Val's Alentejo green day 20 -linking with Fiona @Raindrops and daisies

The weather is colder and the morning sky is overcast and dull.  Its green day 20 over at Fiona's blog
Raindrops and Daisies.
I am amazed that I still have some roses blooming.  Our climate here can change very quickly.  It can be dull and miserable for a few days or half a day.. then the sun will come out.  I think its this mixture of temperatures that make this sort of micro climate..   I took the photo of the lilac pink rose last week.. Its an experiment to see how roses would fair in a pot in my garden.  The rose is the outcome. So I will be having more roses in pots around this next spring.  The other roses I took this morning.
The yellow rose is perfect.  Its great to see that there are no aphids or bugs around to eat the leaves.

These photos I also took yesterday.  The little yellow field flowers are popping up all over.    I found some mushrooms growing here and there.. and ever so excited to see that I have a fig tree that has seeded itself and is now growing amongst one of my rose beds.
The sky this morning miserable and overcast. I miss he sun
These little sparrows came to visit yesterday.. I put some dog biscuits out for them and they were loving it.  taken through my window.

Its weekend again.    How quickly time seems to pass.

Wishing you all a happy weekend .

GREEN DAY 20 Linking with Raindrops and Daisies.

  1. Good Morning Val,

    Your roses are beautiful.
I can't believe you can get them to grow in pots,
I tried but all I had were green leaves!

Your sky looks a bit like ours today, grey and gloomy, I hope it brightens up later for both of us.

I'm off shopping with my daughter so looking forward to that, although she usually walks the legs off me when she is looking for something in particular!

Have a lovely day Val and thank you for linking up.

  2. Hello Val:
Rather the same with us. Yesterday was wet, cold and grey and never seemed to get going whilst today we have warm sunshine and blue skies. It makes such a difference.

  9. Hi Val. Such pretty roses left in your garden. My garden is looking quite sad these days. No more pretty. Thanks for your lovely comments to me about my Dad. It was a fun post to write and you should write one about your Dad too. I mentioned my nephew had written one also and he had some pictures that I didn't have and I learned things that I didn't know. It was a lot of fun to compare..Hope you have a wonderful weekend..Judy

    1. Hello Judy, I am lucky really.. i noticed that last year i had flowers until december..
i have more buds going to open now. When it rains, its not cold.. in fact its warm outside..so i think the roses like that.
Very nice post about your dad.. I am sure i would have enjoyed talking to him.
As we get older, and ask more questions. we get to know more about our family.
I am now wanting to know more about my grandmothers.

  10. Hi Val! I always enjoy loking at roses... I love them all!

All my roses have died, by now, and the garden is looking very sad, but full of lovely berries. The holly looks happy and the pyracantha is covered in berries. In the morning, the webs are covered in millions of little translucent pearls... so beautiful! Can't wait for the snow, Val!

But soon we'll have to go to Italy, to complete the purchase of our town house. I can't wait to move my lovely cacti into the back garden. I want to plant things on the terrazza... WOW! I'm so excited, Val!

  16. Val,

As rosas são lindas! Eu alimento os pássaros livres também. Gosto muito dos pardais pois eles ficam por perto o ano inteiro. Outras espécies só aparecem em algumas ocasiões.

  20. Oh Val, you know how much I love roses. The pink one is so pretty, and your red roses always make me smile. I thought that my roses were done blooming, but then my landscaper clipped the bushes and new roses started to bloom. Now, I have about four pretty pink roses out there. Sparrows are so delicate, I love to watch them. Have a nice weekend, Val, and happy November.
