Winter ! wants to stay

Camera on the ready. I had thrown some bread out for the birds and the big naughty Iberian blue Magpie comes swooping down and scares off all the little sparrows and other birds.  I took the photo from my kitchen window.

In January, we had better weather , than what we are having now. Once again , winter has hit with avengence .   Its cold , raining and the wind is blowing.
It doesnt seem that Mr. Winter, wants to leave us.
This is how the skies are looking at the moment.
Hope we can see some spring weather soon.

I went with a couple of friends to the garden centre on Friday.  They hardly had any small plants for my pots. I was a little dissapointed to say the least.   We bought a few petunias and pansies.

The weather has caught up with me.  I have been in bed all weekend, with an awful flu. It seems most people have been getting it.  Today, I feel a little better.

wishing you all a happy Monday.  Hope you are having better weather where you are than we are.!

Val

  1. I hope you get rid of that flu fast. They say it has been the worst season in ten years.

We are having colder weather now then in February too. But up north of us - they are getting dumped with a lot of snow today!

I am going to rest a little now.
      made a nice chicken broth.
I do hope that we get some sun soon.
A good weeke to you too.

I hate being sick. Just like you, we keep getting these cold spells.

  6. Hope the flu packs his bags and goes on his way soon Val.
Unbelievable we have just had the best day of the year so far - warm and sunny. H has worked in the garden all day long, and I have been cleaning the conservatory - now I am tired.
The warm weather is just around the corner.

    1. That is what i hope to Rosemary,
I am feeling a little better. But its gone to my chest.
      (enough of that)
I am envious of your weather. While I was there for the workshop, the weather was good. Its not been good at all here.
How great that you could get to cleaning your conservatory and mr. H in the garden.
      roll on the warm weather.

  8. Dear Val,

I hope you are feeling better today! I never seem to catch colds or flu... don't know why! We are having some fine weather: blue sky and sun. The garden is full of buds, but no flowers yet! You are right: still Winter!

I love the blue magpie... it's unusual and really beautiful.

I hope you get over your cold and that the sky turns the bluest shade of blue, just for you!

    HUGS

    ANNA

  9. Dear Val, so sorry you have the dreaded flu - take good care and keep warm. Reminds me to go for my flu jab asap! I have never heard of the blue magpie, and what a lovely bird it is. Blue birds and flowers always attract me. Doesn't your weather look bleak - hoping for a thaw in the coming weeks. And looking forward to seeing what you do with pansies and petunias, two of my favourites. Hope the flu flits off soon. Love from Oz.

  11. Take care Val. and hopefully you can say good-bye to the flu soon. What you need is a good dose of sunshine:) I've just had my flu vaccination today, so hope that will keep it away while I'm travelling.
Very nicely framed photos Val. The sky looks quite threatening, but still a lovely scene.
    Love, Betty

  14. Oh Val, I do hope you feel better. I had that nasty flu a few weeks ago, and still coughing now and then. It's one of the worst ones I've had in many years. Don't you just love bird watching? Too bad about the Magpie. The weather here is getting warmer, but I am wondering if there is still more rain to come. Stay warm, Val, and sending a big hug your way.

  15. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery Val. I had this flu lurgy in the New Year and I know it can drag you down. Lets hope the sun will have his hat on very soon and we can all feel the warmth on our backs. Take care dear friend.

  16. Hoping you feel better by now. We are getting blasts of cold weather here as well. It feels as if winter will never end. I so want to get outside and dig in the soil but it seems that day is far away right now. March is usually the beginning of very nice weather but we have a way to go. I don't recall ever having seen a magpie, but I have numerous songbirds feasting at my feeders these days.

  17. I sure hope you are feeling better, too. The flu has been so bad this year...everywhere! I love seeing your blue Magpie. We haven't seen the blue Scrub jay again! I need to be on the look out for him! Take care of yourself...get lots of rest! Sweet hugs!
