A photo of the sky this morning. We have had heavy rain during last week. Its decided to give us a respite. We are always happy when it rains. Our dams and wells get full again. As i was looking up at the sky.. it reminded me of little puppy paws walking up above.!
My dove family are not very far away. Here is one
Here are two
Was up to se Mr. M. who is not very well. This is ginger's favorite place.. i think she is such a beautiful puddy cat. Mr. M has 4 cats and 2 doggies.
Mr. M's sheep - they are cheaters. They come through my open gate to eat the nice new fresh grass growing. Then the dogs send them back again. See how they run
Enjoying all the new green growth. they also like to eat the olive leaves.
Jeffrey the great hunter.. he is always smelling something.
I am so happy. I have never grown chrysanthemums before..and these are loving their place.. will be planting more. So nice to see the yellow next to the green
Just keeping you all updated from "Quintinha das Rosas".. You can see how within one month the green is fast growing through. The horses have been moved up to the enclosure up at Mr. M's. They are more than happy ..with their daily ration of oats.. along with Rosie and Surprise.
I miss them. But.. the wheel turns.. October is at an end.
wishing you all a good day.
val
It is looking green, glad you got the rain. We have had some below freezing nights that killed all the weeds that were growing in the garden. I decided that I wasn't going to weed the greens but let frost do it for me. Warmer the last two mornings as it has been around the freezing mark.
ReplyDeleteThank you to you there at Sunnybrook
DeleteDoes the ice not kill the veggies!
must be very cold there.
No it doesn't kill my fall plants but has killed any thing not related to turnips and cabbage. Most of the weeds have died as did the marigolds. Few bugs are out but it doesn't kill them all as they take cover. It makes the kale and mustard taste better, they must have some kind of antifreeze at the cell level.
DeleteGlad to see this post, Val, with its lovely photos. How green everything is looking now that you've had rain. Thankfully we were spared the worst of the storm which battered southern Britain overnight.
ReplyDeleteWhew Perpetua.. what a morning.
DeleteI thought i was going to have to go through all that nonsense again.
it was blogger..that i know.
So pleased you were spared some of that horrible storm. I watched it on tv and still watching some of it. Thank you Perpetua. xx
Hello Val, what a beautiful romantic sky in your first picture. Isn't it wonderful when the rains come; I can see the grass is greening for you, and the doves are happy at your place. Our grass is so brown, it is turning black - but there is a weather forecast for a violent storm tomorrow. I hope it has more rain than violence! Congratulations on growing that beautiful yellow chrysanthemum - I hope it lingers for many years. Love from Aus. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Patricia,
DeleteI was mesmorized by the sky this morning. it was all different shapes and designs.

Hope you get some rain. eventually the ground needs it.
I am thrilled with the chrysanth... I must get more variety. x

I wish I was rich - for I don't know why I am so drawn to go visit out there - I have a hard time picturing it. You have so many animals and flowers. And your land is gorgeous. Love, sandie
ReplyDeleteI think you would love the area i live in.. Europe in itself is beautiful. such old history. The sheep are family sheep.
DeleteThank you Sandie for your kind comments.
Nature is wonderful the way it picks itself up following a drought and seems to do it so quickly too.
ReplyDeleteSorry to learn that Mr. M is not well. Do hope that he is soon feeling better again.
As you mention the wheel turns - I can't believe that we are heading into November already.
It seemed to have happened so quickly this year Rosemary. Not more than a month ago..the land was dry and brown. The rain is so welcome.
DeleteThankyou for your kind comments. Mr. M. is not too good.
Yes.. November is upon us. how times go by and the wheel goes around. xx
i am sorry mr. m. is not feeling well. i hope he will be okay... glad you have gotten respite from the drought, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tex. Mr. M is not too good. we hope medication will help.
DeleteThe rain has been like manna from heaven.

Val, the little sheep are so cute. I didn't know they could eat the olive trees. Your yellow flowers are coming along nicely. What a pretty color they are. I love the dove family. They look like mourning doves to me, and sometimes you'll see them in pairs. I love bird watching; it's one of my favorite past times. I bet the rain was much needed. I think it rained a bit last night because when I woke up this morning, the sidewalks were wet.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, Val.
Love,
~Sheri
Its just passed lambing season here..so lots of little babies.
DeleteI am so happy with my garden at the moment. The rain has been so welcome.

ReplyDeleteLife certainly look wonderful there. Loved seeing all the animal photos and your chrysanthemums are such a beautiful autumn color I didn't realize you had sheep. It was so funny that I saw a lady with a sheep on a dog lead the other day at the vet's office. First time I ever saw that!! Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteHi Val, I'm catching up on my reading so I'm sorry this is late. Beautiful greens in your photos after all that rain and I love chrysanthemums too. Hope Mr M is feeling better. His sheep certainly know where to come for a bit of company! Take care.
