Said goodby!!!!

This is the sky here at the moment.  Its just unbelievable how, in one day, the temperature can rise to 21º with beautiful sunshine and some warmth from the sun.  To a morning of heavy wind.  Clouds of heavy rain on the horizon. Bringing with it another cold front.
Weather patterns are certainly changing.

A little blurred .  As I went out to get more wood for my salamander .. I spied another of my lovely little blue magpies.. There were many of them flitting around, but i am not quick enough to catch them flying off, and it was cold outside.
The oleander trees bending in the wind

The tow truck came to take away my poor little fiesta on Thursday.   I was rather sad to see her taken off down the drive.  I waved goodby to it.!!!! then had a little cry.(crazy woman).   Its been a whole week of sorting out the paper work to take the car off the road.  Papers here and papers there to fill in.   All paper work is finished now.
I have the old family vw. she is looking in pretty good shape, and I am happy to have her. I like old cars, they have a lot of character.(this one has)!!!   She had a good wash and clean.    So now I am at least able to get around.
Just needs a new side mirror on the right. My handy mechanic is looking for one. Many of you mentioned insurance.  I only have 3rd party.  It does not cover fire . I did not have to pay for the tow truck.. and I recieved 90 euros for the scrapped car. !!!  I will put that towards new plants.
Most of my pots are now empty  at the moment. Yesterday was such a wonderful day.  Pedro and Maria gave a good clean up at the front of the cottage.. removing all the broken glass and burnt cinders.
The pots are now  ready to fill with some nice bright plants.  I hope to take a visit to the nursery , when the  weather is more stable enough . so I will wait a while.
My rose bushes are slowly getting new growth.. I cant wait until spring.

My apologies for not replying to all your kind comments.   Its been a busy time for me, and taken a little wind out of my sails!!!!   Thank you so much to all of you who left your comments . So very much appreciated.

Wishing you all a very happy Sunday.

  3. Good heavens! I had to go back to read previous posts to understand what's been going on. You have certainly been through quite a time - I'm so glad you were safely out of the car and that your friend Pedro was nowhere near it when it blew up!
I have been h'ors de combat lately and am only just now catching up. We are having a cold and wet late winter here on the island, but looking forward to the inevitable spring and all the colour that must come with it!

  5. You have had a rotten few days Val, but hopefully now that you have got some new wheels and with help from your handy mechanics you can now move forward.
Time to think about the better weather and plant some pretty flowers in your lovely pots for you to enjoy.

  9. For some of us our cars can be part of the family. I remember when our Son was in an accident. They took him to the hospital and when we got there all he could say is how was his truck. He was ok Thank God, but all he worried about was his truck.

Your poor son. Imagine.. in hospital and worrying about his truck.

  10. I am glad you have another car to use, Val, and now have wheels to get around. Life outside the city really depends on car transport these days. What a nice idea to buy plants with the money you received, making nice memories for yourself. Looks a bit cold and wet there, but Spring must be just around the corner! xxx

  11. Val,
So glad you have a car to drive yourself around in now. The color is a pretty blue. I know what you mean.....I will really miss my car if it ever breaks down on me. It is a reliable car and takes me many places. Some more rain is coming to your area, but at least you got a bit of sunshine before. It is supposed to rain this week here too.

    Have a good week, Val.

    love,
    ~Sheri

  12. Ah Val as I headed up my last post - "as one door closes, another door opens" and this is so true for you at the moment. I'm sure you've lots of good memories of your old car but exciting that you have another to take its place and you'll enjoy motoring into Spring and the sunny days ahead. Take care dear friend.

  13. You have had an emotional and unsettling start to your year Val. I hope life resumes it's normal pattern soon and that you will begin to enjoy some nice weather and all the joys of Spring. Your rose is really getting going! Won't be long 'til it blooms:)
My thoughts and good wishes are with you.

  14. I'm so glad to hear you have a car again, Val! (And like you, if someone gave me money, I would certainly spend it on plants!) I hope you have good luck with this new automobile and are enjoying the Spring as it comes awake. (Ours is still a little sleepy, here in New England, but soon....)
