update

I can't keep the secret from you any longer dear friends.
The so called "store room" - that i have been giving progress reports on..
Is going to be my art room.    It was my intention from the very beginning , but just incase it didnt come out as i was planning, i called it the store room.
I am so pleased with the progress.    Pedro resumed work on it last week.
We just tried out some slabs that i had over.  These will be laid, leading of the larger patio.
There are two rooms in the studio.. Opening up the wall to the old store room, i decided to put an old railway beam rather than just leave it bare.  cleaned and varnished up.. i think it will look really nice... The ceiling has come out good.. very happy progress so far.
A large big window looking onto the back garden.. window should be soon.
Maybe i should call myself- the project woman.   I always have some plan or other that i would like to do around the cottages and garden.  This space is for a smaller window that will come from the main cottage, where another project is on paper , waiting to start.
Good pieces of wood and shelving.   some sanding and painting to be done there.
I bought these ready made fence squares.. 1m x1m... this part is finished.. its next to the cottage and the studio.. There will be a gate on the end, so I can go to the front of the house .. easier for the dogs too.

The door is ready also.   So my next post on my new 'Studio' hopefully will have more to show you.
Its exciting.    Ideal weather for Pedro.  We have had no rain.  Just early morning thick coatings of ice across the fields.. then warming during the day.  A cold wind blows here and there.
A glimmer of spring with the little white and yellow daisies starting to pop their heads up in the fields.

Happy Sunday to you all.    Thank you for your comments on my last blog.

I am recovered and feel as though I could work in the garden all day.

Val

  1. It will make a studio, I have painted in similar places. I put a computer beside my easel and paint from a light based image rather than something dark and get better results. Also I don't paint under lights as it influences my eyes and makes the painting darker, natural low light seems to make the paintings brighter when they go under lights. I liked that building even as a storage room.

  4. The studio will be a wonderful spot for you to set your easel up in Val. I think that it is important, if possible, to have a quiet place especially designated to your art works. My youngest son and his wife have a studio in their garden, and they love it. It encourages them to leave behind the chores of everyday life and do what they really want to do with their art.

    1. This is my intention Rosemary. I am so tired of taking my paints and easels here and there. I want things all neatly on shelves and my easels set up. If i want, I can go in for a coffee or go back to finish when i want. I think it will encourage me more.. I have so many canvases to work on.

  5. Oh dear Val, I can tell that you feel so much better and what a great idea to make your "shed" into a studio. You have shared with us some of your art and it is obvious that you are very talented...a talent that should not go to waste.

  7. Dear Val, you made me smile, because I do the same thing: I make sure something will work out well before I tell people what I am up to :) Your artist studio will be wonderful, and I think the pink ceiling will give it a happy glow. You will have many, many enjoyable hours working here. Well done! xxx

  9. An art room, Val......lucky you! It is coming along nicely, and I can't wait to see it when it's finished. I've always wanted an art room. So many things you will be able to work on and create. I wish I could see your white and yellow daisies gracing your fields - one of my favorite flowers, indeed.

    Have a beautiful week, Val.

    love, ~Sheri

  10. Val, you little stinker!. Fibbing, I just can't imagine it!! haha Well if you are anything like me, your studio or craft room will become a storage room at some point anyway so you will have been truthful. Seriously, it will be so good for you to have a place to paint and it looks like it is coming together nicely. I bet you are excited for the grand opening. Can't wait to see the progress..Happy Tuesday..Judy
