Hello Val:
ReplyDeleteIt seems incredible that Oleanders are evergreen for you. In the UK we could barely keep them alive through the Summer and here in Hungary they delight through the warmer months but do not survive the winters outside.
Hello Jane and Lance,
DeleteYes, the oleander here is green all the year around. There is a couple of months that it doesnt give flowers.. but always green.
Portugal has one of the mildest winters in Europe. we really do have lovely weather here.
Summer is not for the faint hearted.. it gets very very hot. like today its been 35º and still hot at 6pm.. am off for a swim.
Wishing you both a wonderful weekend.
val

That Oleander is beautiful, Val...almost as sweet as your shadow!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteThanks JP):
DeleteIsn't it amazing how many different shades of green there are, Val? I've seen gardens that were entirely green (no flowering plants) and they were just stunning, thanks to all the lovely variations of green. It looks as if you're still very warm there. Here in New England there's a chill in the air! Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Haworth. When we stop to look at the trees or the shrubs the greens are all different.
DeleteIts still very warm here. September is a lovely month.
Best wishes to you there in New England
val
It all looks so summery still, Val! Here it became cold. Paul and I had a glass of wine on the balcony tonight but around 8 pm we had to go inside. Too chilly! I know the heat can be a drag too - but I wouldn't mind to swap now! Have a lovely weekend! Christa
ReplyDeleteDear Christa,
DeleteOur weather only changes towards mid or end of october. In reality the weather in Portugal is very mild really. the worst months are jan,feb,march..cold months, of course not as cold as sweitz.
Your evening sounds wonderful ..
sending you some warm sunshine and hugs
val xx
Hi, I liked the photos and the flowers.
ReplyDeleteAlentejo is hot, I know. I live in the Minho, by the sea.
Thank you Felipa, nice of you to pass by
Deleteverde e rosa... bonito!
ReplyDeletebjss
Hello Val, we also have a pink oleander, just like yours. Now I will think of you when it flowers. I love the roses in your new header - they obviously love the warm Portugese weather as well as your expert care and attention. Enjoy the weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteHello Patricia,
DeleteHow are things down under!
Thank you for you kind comments. pleased you like my new header. I like to change them now and again, it makes things a little more interesting.
The roses sometimes get burnt and dry with the heat. Its still hot here. just finished watering.
happy weekend.
hello Val also I love the oleanders and the early morning when the air is cooler, because right after getting up, I'll go out into the garden. Greetings and good weekend, fr
ReplyDeleteThank you Franc ... My oleanders have been in bloom since early may ..maybe earlier.
DeleteOutside is wonderful in the early morning.
nice to see you
happy weekend
Thanks T):
ReplyDeleteDear Val, Have I told you that I like your new header? Your oleander blossoms are gorgeous. I have always had an oleander tree but must take it inside where it continues blooming. Have heard that the entire tree is poisonous. Is that true?
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that you like my new header..Picmonkey collage..
DeleteI have always loved the oleander tree and had them in my garden in S.A
Yes, the tree is poisonous. Its amazing, even the horses know that. They love to eat my daisies or other plants when they get the chance.. but not the oleanders.
Hope your market day went well.
val
Dear Val
ReplyDeleteleander reminds me always of my childhod. Grandma has a big one ( it looked mroe like tree really) in front of her kitchen door. It was so beautfiul!
Lovely shots : )
Hi Demie,
DeleteOleander is a lovely tree. They can grow very big.
Hello Val, so glad you stopped by the shop's carnival page. :) I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed the Romani post. I hope you stop by for the carnival on 10/6, music will be playing then too. Isn't their music amazing? So much talent.
ReplyDeleteI love your Oleander all dressed up in pink, and you header is gorgeous too.
Much love!!
Marcia
Dear Fiona,
DeleteI was so enchanted with your post about the Romani. Like I wrote, it brought back memories of my childhood.
I shared it twice yesterday, with my grandaughter Audrey.. So I think we will be organising our tickets!
Thank you for your comments.
will be seeing you.
hugs val x x x
I often see my shadow in my photos, too! I've often wondered what oleander looks like - thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI like your pictures very much. The oleander bush is especially nice. I also enjoyed looking at your cookbook. I hope you will tell us if you make some good dishes from it. And yes, I have cooked squirrel stews before – it tastes like rabbit.
ReplyDeleteThank you Vagabonde,
Deletepleased you liked my post for Green day 13
My cook book is wonderful..such exciting recipies.
Oh gosh. I would never think that one could eat squirrel..do they not have sicknesses!
I like your shadow picture, Val. When I took a Photography class, one of my assignments was to take a shadow picture. I remember taking it of the trees. I can't get over your pink roses on your Header. Are they still blooming for you? BEAUTIFUL!!
ReplyDelete~Sheri at Red Rose Alley
Hi Sherie,
DeleteThe shadow picture was just by chance. I am surprised at it too.
Yes, my roses are still blooming. Not as profusely as early spring ,but they are giving me lots of blooms. A lot of work, but i love roses , as do you Sheri.
thank you for your lovely comments. Always nice to hear from you.
xx
Very pretty pink! =)
ReplyDeleteHi Val. I haven't been on for a while and have missed you. I hope all is well and that you are having a lovely weekend! I love your flowers.
ReplyDeleteHi Val: Even though the season is changing, it is still nice to see a bit of green. We are having a very lovely, cool day today and it was much cooler this early morning. Fall is on her way for sure. Thanks as always, Val, for your sweet and kind comments to me. I just am having a hard time catching up with everyone but am trying. As it gets colder I think everything will slow down and that will be nice..Hope you are having a great week and I'll talk to you again soon..Happy Wednesday..Judy
