  1. Hello Val:
It seems incredible that Oleanders are evergreen for you. In the UK we could barely keep them alive through the Summer and here in Hungary they delight through the warmer months but do not survive the winters outside.

    1. Hello Jane and Lance,
Yes, the oleander here is green all the year around. There is a couple of months that it doesnt give flowers.. but always green.
Portugal has one of the mildest winters in Europe. we really do have lovely weather here.
Summer is not for the faint hearted.. it gets very very hot. like today its been 35º and still hot at 6pm.. am off for a swim.
Wishing you both a wonderful weekend.

  8. Isn't it amazing how many different shades of green there are, Val? I've seen gardens that were entirely green (no flowering plants) and they were just stunning, thanks to all the lovely variations of green. It looks as if you're still very warm there. Here in New England there's a chill in the air! Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Indeed Haworth. When we stop to look at the trees or the shrubs the greens are all different.
Its still very warm here. September is a lovely month.
Best wishes to you there in New England

  9. It all looks so summery still, Val! Here it became cold. Paul and I had a glass of wine on the balcony tonight but around 8 pm we had to go inside. Too chilly! I know the heat can be a drag too - but I wouldn't mind to swap now! Have a lovely weekend! Christa

    1. Dear Christa,
Our weather only changes towards mid or end of october. In reality the weather in Portugal is very mild really. the worst months are jan,feb,march..cold months, of course not as cold as sweitz.
      Your evening sounds wonderful ..
sending you some warm sunshine and hugs

Thank you for you kind comments. pleased you like my new header. I like to change them now and again, it makes things a little more interesting.
The roses sometimes get burnt and dry with the heat. Its still hot here. just finished watering.

  13. Dear Val, Have I told you that I like your new header? Your oleander blossoms are gorgeous. I have always had an oleander tree but must take it inside where it continues blooming. Have heard that the entire tree is poisonous. Is that true?

I have always loved the oleander tree and had them in my garden in S.A
Yes, the tree is poisonous. Its amazing, even the horses know that. They love to eat my daisies or other plants when they get the chance.. but not the oleanders.
Hope your market day went well.

  18. I like your shadow picture, Val. When I took a Photography class, one of my assignments was to take a shadow picture. I remember taking it of the trees. I can't get over your pink roses on your Header. Are they still blooming for you? BEAUTIFUL!!

  21. Hi Val: Even though the season is changing, it is still nice to see a bit of green. We are having a very lovely, cool day today and it was much cooler this early morning. Fall is on her way for sure. Thanks as always, Val, for your sweet and kind comments to me. I just am having a hard time catching up with everyone but am trying. As it gets colder I think everything will slow down and that will be nice..Hope you are having a great week and I'll talk to you again soon..Happy Wednesday..Judy
